Today we took a little trip to the Galleria, a four-story shopping mall in Dallas. It's about 2 hours from our house. We stopped on the way in West, Texas. That's a town, not to be confused with West Texas, which is a region of scrubland and oil wells. West is about 30 miles north of Waco, and was settled by Czech families. Many of the citizens have "ski" tacked on to their names. There are several places in town to buy kolaches, which can either be filled with fruit, like a Danish, or with meat and cheese, like a Pig in a Blanket.
Looks yummy!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE pastries. Looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteOh man that looks YUMMY!! Good thing that place is a long drive from home, makes the temptation a little easier to ignore.
ReplyDeleteThese look so good!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo! I would love to have one of these...maybe filled with chocolate. Yum!
ReplyDeleteYum Yum Yum!!!!! Looks delicious!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, man - memories!! My Mom, Sister and I used to make kolache... it is SO labor intensive, we just can't do it any more!! Now we buy it from a Mennonite bakery in west Maryland whenever any of us gets out that way. It's almost as good as the ones we used to make, and worth every penny!! Our favorite is walnut filled... DELICIOUS!!
